DENTAL PROGRAM

ROTARY CLUB OF CONROE DENTAL PROGRAM

Ask any school nurse and they will tell you one of the frequent problems children come to them with is dental problems.  We all know what it’s like to have a toothache, it’s difficult to do anything, let alone learn.  Many of the children who suffer from dental problems in Conroe elementary schools are from families who cannot afford proper dental care, or emergency dental care.  This is why The Rotary Club of Conroe has since 1932 work with local dentists and school nurses to provide emergency dental care for needy children.  This Rotary program is a “one-of-a-kind” program and for years been the Club’s largest funded program.  This past year the club budgeted $17,000 for the Dental program, which was based on prior needs and the 12-15 local participating dentists charging 50% or less of their costs.  However, this amount didn’t come close to meeting the increasing need.  By the end of the school year, the Club spent over $32,000.  To makeup the difference and continue to meet the need, the Rotary Club of Conroe will be conducting two major fund raisers this year – the Annual Reverse Raffle/Pancake Supper  this fall and the 2nd Annual Casino Night in the spring.  These events help the Club provide needed dollars for the Dental Program and other community needs-based programs. All Rotarians will be participating in these events and we ask the Conroe community to do the same.  Not being able to participate doesn't mean you can't still donate to the Rotary Club of Conroe Foundation, from which the funds for the Dental Program come.
